State of Florida has statutes that dictate who can legally perform mold assessment in the Cape Coral
area.
Certified indoor environmentalists generally have much more proven experience in mold investigations and writing protocols
for cleaning up mold problems. CIE All the mold sources need to be identified and proper cleanup methods need to be in your mold inspection report.
Water intrusions must be identified to remediated to prevent future mold growth.

water intrusion shown in the pictures above was the result of a plumbing leak under the kitchen sink on the other side of
the wall. With little staining on the wall this leak could easily be missed without the infrared camera.
Consumers should hire licensed professionals that will have the needed equipment for a through mold/moisture assessment of
their home or business.
Your Cape Coral Home Inspector is NOT
allowed to perform mold (tests) sampling for areas greater than 10 square feet (about the size of a doll house) unless they
have a mold assessor license. If you want the whole house (tested for mold) / air sampled for mold you need a Florida
licensed Mold Assessor.

Florida Consumers should be aware that the new
Florida mold law (effective July 1, 2010) will require $1million liability with errors and omissions insurance. Cape
Coral, Ft Myers, and Estero mold inspectors will also be required to identify the source and extent of a mold problem.
Home Inspectors and Mold Inspectors have separate requirements and licenses.
Cape Coral Mold assessors must have E&O insurance and not just for preliminary
inspections.The consumer does not benefit from the law if the mold assessor performs a clearance inspection
and does not have E&O that covers the service.
Mold
inspections in Cape Coral and the Lee County area will need to identify and document the source and
the extent of the mold problem to meet the requirements of the new Florida mold law.Professional mold
inspectors in Ft Myers and all of Florida should provide recommendations for corrections based on accepted national
standards if needed.This allows the consumer to obtain “bids” for cleanup from multiple mold
remediation companies all cleaning up the same problem.Hiring an inspector independent from the cleanup
company is best for the consumer, ethical, and required by the new Florida mold statutes (July 1, 2010) in a few months.
Your Mold Inspection report needs detailed recommendation for cleanup, this
allows consumer to compare licensed mold remediators qotes for the mold removal. (everyone is cleaning the same areas).
Most local "licensed mold assessors/inspectors" were grandfathered into license and did not
pass the adopted CIE exam.
